One of the biggest talking points coming out of Sunday’s huge Redemption event was the debut of a brand new 3rd Generation Knockout. In the middle of Kiera Hogan and Taya Valkyrie‘s match, Tessa Blanchard joined Don Callis and Josh Mathews and put the Knockouts division on notice. But what exactly does Tessa Blanchard want in IMPACT Wrestling? We sat down with her to find out.

“I came to the Knockouts Division because it’s no secret that the past six months or so IMPACT’s been making strides. The hottest free agents out there – Pentagon, Fenix, Brian Cage – IMPACT has locked them down,” Blanchard said when asked why she came to IMPACT. “When it comes to the Knockouts Division, I’m the hottest free agent out there right now!”

Tessa Blanchard has no intention on starting from the bottom. “I’m not looking to work my way up. I feel like I deserve a shot at the Knockouts Championship. On the independent circuit I’ve traveled the world, I’ve won championships, I’ve won tournaments – I’ve defeated some of the best out there so I feel like I am one of the best.”

At Redemption Tessa made her presence known during a match featuring Kiera Hogan and Taya Valkyrie but she has her eyes on a bigger prize. “I’m coming here and I want to be the top dog, I’m going to go after whoever has the Knockouts Championship – and right now that’s Allie. I’ve got my sights set on Allie and if any of the Knockouts get in my way I’ll run right through them.”

The Blanchard name carrier considerable weight in the world of pro wrestling. Tessa’s grandfather Joe Blanchard and father Four Horsemen member Tully Blanchard lend considerable pedigree. “Carrying on the Blanchard name is a huge honor for me because my grandfather, my father and my step-father – they’ve all put a lot into their legacy and for me to carry that on, it’s a lot of weight on my shoulders. I put pressure on myself to be the best and to carry on the Blanchard name with dignity and with pride.”

One thing is for sure, Blanchard isn’t short of confidence. She is certain that with her talent and her legacy she’s destined for gold in the Knockouts division. “These Knockouts, they’re good, they’re talented, they’ve got the look and the charisma and all that but there’s one thing that’s certain – none of them are Tessa Blanchard.”

Backstage, Kiera Hogan says she asked for her rematch against Taya Valkyrie so she can try to have her redemption. Tessa Blanchard walks in and tells Hogan that girls like her will always take a backseat to women like her. Hogan tells the only thing Blanchard is good at is sitting back and watching. Blanchard can watch as Hogan defeats Valkyrie tonight.

Taya Valkyrie vs Kiera Hogan

Taya spears Hogan right off the bell and hammers her with right hands, then tosses her across the ring by the hair. Hogan dodges a corner charge, but Taya turns her inside out with a hard clothesline. She stands over Hogan asking her what she’s got while slamming the back of her head into the mat over and over. Hogan dodges a double stomp and hits a series of clotheslines and a superkick. Hogan blows a flying headscissors, but Taya is nice enough to sell it anyway. Hogan curb stomps Taya’s face into the ring steps, but the match is interrupted by the entrance of Tessa Blanchard, who comes down to ringside and starts a fight with Hogan. Tessa sidesteps a charge and Hogan runs herself into the post, then Tessa picks her up and gives her another shot into the post and one into the ring steps. Tessa rolls her into the ring so hard that Hogan bashes into the apron and falls back out. Tessa rolls her in a second time and hits a hammerlock DDT and then plays to the crowd.

Winner: N/A

Taya Valkyrie vs. Kiera Hogan

Valkyrie is called Lucha Royalty as she comes out. Hogan comes out next. The match is being billed as Fire vs. Ice. Matthews talks how this is Hogan’s first PPV match and they discuss whether it’s going to play into the match.

Valkyrie pats Hogan on the head and shoves Hogan down. Hogan hits a rana from the corner, then knocks Valkyrie out of the ring.

Tessa Blanchard joins Matthews and Callis on commentary and says she will be seen on Thursdays. The match basically becomes an interview between Matthews, Callis, and Blanchard while Valkyrie takes control of Hogan.

Hogan hits Valkyrie, gets caught, and slams Hogan to the mat for a two count. Blanchard talks about her legacy in wrestling and criticizes Valkyrie for calling herself “Lucha Royalty.” Valkyrie nails Hogan with a kick but gets only a two. Hogan and Valkyrie trade shots but Valkyrie hits Hogan with a slam and sells an injury. Hogan gets a cover on Valkyrie but only a two.

Blanchard says she’s going after the Impact Knockouts Championship and says she’s earned it. Hogan gets another two count while Blanchard and Matthews argue. Valkyrie hits a side suplex but only a two. Valkyrie eventually hits Road to Valhalla and pins Hogan.

Winner: Taya Valkyrie

Callis suggests Blanchard was scouting Valkyrie/Hogan for the future.
