Tessa Blanchard vs. Taya Valkyrie (Street Fight for the Impact Knockouts Championship)

The match starts out with Blanchard grabbing a steel chair and rushing after Valkyrie as she’s on the stage entering the venue. Valkyrie dodges and starts throwing punches at Blanchard. Valkyrie tosses Blanchard down the ramp and back inside the ring, but as she climbs inside, Blanchard kicks Valkyrie in the head. She stays on Valkyrie with clubby blows. Valkyrie gets to her feet as Blanchard wedges a chair in to one corner of turnbuckles. Blanchard tries to irish whip Valkyrie in to the chair but she reverses in to a german suplex. Valkyire with a few kicks to the back for a quick one count. Blanchard gets dumped outside the ring, and as Valkyrie goes running for a dive, Blanchard wacks her in the head with a large metal sheet. Blanchard tosses a chair in Valkyrie’s face and then connects with a running basement dropkick that bounces the chair off of Valkyrie’s head once more.

Valkyrie is able to get in some shots and returns with a metal sheet shot of her own to Blanchard’s head. Valkyrie grabs a beer from an audience member nearby and tosses the remnants in to Blanchard’s face. She then comes off the barricade with a springboard attack, but Blanchard has it scouted and connects with a kick to Valkyrie’s stomach. Blanchard maneuvers the open chair around Valkyrie’s head and then bounces it off of the steel ring post. She then grabs some cords from the outside area and chokes Valkyrie with them. Blanchard rips Valkyrie’s shirt off and spits on it. She charges after Valkyrie for a spear but Wera Loca avoids it and Blanchard’s head impales the steel chair that was wedged in to the turnbuckles earlier. Valkyrie follows it up with a series of strikes, a clothesline in the corner, and a meteora on a sitting Blanchard. Valkyrie sets up the metal sheet in between Blanchard’s legs, grabs herself a steel chair and then proceeds to wack the steel sheet in to Blanchard’s groin area like it was golf. Valkyrie goes for the Road to Valhalla but Blanchard reverses and regains control.

Blanchard puts Valkyrie’s head back inside the chair and stomps away at it. Blanchard looks crazed and goes to the outside of the ring to retrieve numerous chairs. Knockouts Title: Tessa Blanchard vs. Taya Valkyrie

Tessa is defending Gail Kim is guest referee. An early toss doesn’t get Tessa very far as she charges into a boot in the corner and there’s a double stomp to keep the champ in trouble. A knee to the face sends Tessa outside but she whips Taya into the barricade. Tessa adds a dropkick to drive her into the barricade and we hit the seated armbar back inside. Taya’s neck is bent around the ropes and Gail has to yell at Tessa to break it up. A heck of a clothesline out of the corner puts Tessa in trouble and a straitjacket suplex gives Taya two.

The double knees in the corner get two more and Taya reverses the Buzzsaw DDT into a northern lights suplex. They’re showcasing Taya being equally strong here, which isn’t something Tessa is used to. Taya misses a moonsault and there’s a spear. Tessa can’t believe the kickout and accidentally runs Gail over. The Buzzsaw DDT connects for no cover as Gail is still down.

Tessa grabs the title for the tug of war with Gail, who accidentally hits Taya in the head with the belt. That’s good for two so Tessa shoves Gail in not the brightest move. Gail shoves her into a rollup for two and they seem to botch the setup for a Codebreaker out of the corner. Therefore they do it again with the Codebreaker connecting the second time around. Gail counts two so Tessa drives her into the corner. That’s enough for Gail, who hits Eat Defeat to set up the Road To Valhalla to make Taya champion at 10:36.

Winner & new Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie

Josh is in the ring and introduces Tessa Blanchard and Taya Valkyrie for a face to face interview leading into their Knockouts Title Match at Homecoming. Taya tells Tessa what she did at Bound For Glory was very creative, but knocking the ref out in their second match was cheap. She says a bunch of stuff in Spanish, and says she’ll be all over her at Homecoming. Tessa says the only way Taya would know how a champion acts is by watching her husband, and he’s not even too good at that. Taya has always been just a challenger here, and she always talks about chasing her dreams, and that makes her no different than the people, because she’s a loser. So Tessa grabbed the apron or hit a ref, she’ll walk out the door with the title if she wants to, but at Homecoming, Taya will have to take it from her, and that’s something nobody has been able to do. Josh asks for decorum, then says there’s another reason they were brought out here: Impact management decided to add a stipulation to this match, specifically a guest referee. Josh motions to the apron, and introduces Gail Kim as the special referee at Homecoming.

Tessa Blanchard is backstage saying she respects Gail Kim, and Gail inspired her to get into the business, but that doesn’t mean that she won’t run right through her if she gets in her way at Homecoming.
